Image Is Everything, Even To Home Based Women Entrepreneurs

Home-based women entrepreneurs nowadays are on the rise. The comfort and ease of being able to work from home is what makes it all appealing, plus, more and more women are now looking in to their hobbies and turning them into real life businesses.

While working from home seems very nice, lounging in the comfort of your couch, and doing things that you love to do, remember that it is still a business that you are running. As women entrepreneurs, maintaining a professional image, even while wearing your Pjs, is essential Image is still important, and it can well be the selling point of your business. But how do you maintain the feeling of being a formal and professional women entrepreneur when surrounded by dirty laundry and kids running around? Here are some tips;

Create your own workspace. This doesn’t have to be large space around the house, just a small closet space will do. Having your own personal “office space” will help you create that professional mindset you need when transacting with clients. It helps that this space be clean and if possible noise free. You can also keep all your necessary files and other things in one place without the risk of smaller children playing with these.

Make a schedule and stick with it. One of the joys of being a home based women entrepreneur is setting your own time to work. But it is also a big responsibility to stick with that work schedule once you’ve made it. Especially with dealing with clients in different timezones, or with hectic schedules, being available during the time of the day you say you can be reached is important. Your clients will be pleased to know that you do not mean to waste their time just waiting for you to get to work.

Keep deadlines. This is the most important. Nothing spells professionalism better than keeping your words. Much like your schedule, you need to remember deadlines and make sure they are met. Sure, you might get distracted when your kid calls mommy, or if you need to cook for dinner, but make sure that while you are doing your work hours, you work on what needs to get done in proper time.

Juggling work life and home life is easier said than done. A screaming kid in the middle of a conference call may be embarrassing to your clients so remember to deal with business matters separately. As long as you maintain a professional mind set while at work, and then revert back to being the home person that you are after work, then you have just unlocked the secret to keeping your work and home life in perfect balance.
