Woman Leader Embraces Adversity from Chronic Ear Infection
For the last couple of days, I have been dealing with my little boy, Daniel's left ear. His ear has been hurting and draining and he has been uncomfortable. This morning when he got up, I checked his ear and cleaned it. I also noticed that his left eye was a bit irritated and he just wasn't feeling that great. He really resisted going to school. And, by the way, he loves school. He is full of life and energy and loves to learn and give to others.
Well, I talked him through it and helped him realize that what ever we focus on expands. I assured him things would get better and he needed to keep his focus on what he wanted, which was to feel and get better. So he digested that for a few minutes and by then it was time to get in the car. I helped him get his water, lunch and back pack and we loaded up in the car.
We drove out of the drive way, he put his head on the dash board for a few minutes, breathed a big sigh, looked up at me with his beautiful "puppy dog" eyes and said, "Mom, when will these problems with my ear and my eye go away?" I reached over and put my hand on his lap and said, "honey, there will always be challenges (not problems) in our lives. We get to choose every day how do deal with those challenges." Will we resist them or embrace them?
I told him our job ever day is to learn how to gracefully navigate through life even in difficult times. I dropped him off at school and he was smiling.
As I drove off, I reflected on our conversation we had and how I felt, because I knew I had made a shift in him. I gave thanks for being the person that impacted his life during a really difficult moment in his life.
I am reminded, as a Leader of Women, to Navigate through life gracefully, even in difficult times. I look forward to touching and impacting your life today in a positive way.
